I was watching Up (2009) with my kids recently, and it struck me how similar it is to Gran Torino (2008). Up is basically the family version of Gran Torino; the story and characters are almost exactly the same. Also, they both clock in at 8.4/10 at IMDb. So I decided to do a quick comparison, to see how much they overlap. The result speaks for itself:

That crazy bird really cracked me up! Good one. We should have more of these comparisons. In the end, there aren’t that many unique stories. Like Under Siege is Die Hard at sea, etc.
